This playlist is filled with songs that pretty much sum up all of my emotions during these first months of lockdown and helped me cope with the negativity that was surrounding me at the time. There are a variety of genres from Indie Pop, Hardcore, Hip-Hop to R&B for a moment to dance, reflect, cry then carry on with your rest of the day at home.
Vacations – Relax
Artist: Vacations is an indie pop rock band from Australia that I discovered last year and been in love with ever since for their relaxing Lofi sound to soothe my mood when it's greatly needed.
Song: The song "Relax" has a beach riff beat with sweet reassuring lyrics to guarantee you to "relax" for just a moment.
The 1975 - Pressure
Artist: The 1975 is a British Pop Rock band with a new wave indie sound. I've seen them live at least 4 times and they haven't disappointed me yet!
Song: This is an upbeat song with saxophone solos that's about life and how it always presents new forms of pressure to overcome, relatable? Definitely!
DayGlow- Can I call you tonight?
Artist: Sloan Struble known as Dayglow is an alternative indie-pop project-based from Texas with an 80's indie sound!
Song: This is a very electric and positive track about new gained feelings along with the curiosity and urges to talk to someone as much as possible. Why not blossom a new relationship during quarantine?!
Tame Impala - Is it True?
Artist: Tame Impala is an Australian based Psychedelic rock band with Kevin Parker as lead vocals and producer. I've seen this band live twice and they are to this day one of the best bands I've seen perform!
Song: "Is it True" is a very upbeat groovy song that can make anyone dance! The song is about fear of love and the future.
Toro y Moi - Fading
Artist: Chad Bear known as Toro y Moi is an American singer and producer with a unique synth-pop and chill-wave sound. I first heard Toro y Moi on Tumblr, R.I.P.
Song: "Fading" has such funky techno like beat to it. It's about having faith in things working out when it seems it's coming to an end.
Daniel Caesar - ARE YOU OK?
Artist: Ashton D. Simmonds as known as Daniel Caesar is a Canadian singer and songwriter with angelic and soulful vocals.
Song: "ARE YOU OKAY?" is a solemn track accompanied by acoustic melodies. It's hard not to listen to this song and not take the lyrics personally.
Harry Styles - Sign of the Times
Artist: Harry Styles is an English pop singer and songwriter, most known from the boy band, One Direction before he went solo.
Song: The track "Sign of the times" is definitely Harry's ode to classic rock and power ballads. Its apocalyptic tone sounds strangely relatable right now.
Hippo Campus - Way it Goes
Artist: Hippo Campus is an Indie Rock band based from Minnesota with a soft Alt sound.
Song: The song "Way it Goes" is about being carefree and letting go of things that are not controllable. Listen to this light-hearted upbeat song to mellow out chaotic and anxious thoughts.
King Krule - Easy Easy
Artist: Archy Marshall known as King Krule is an English indie singer and songwriter with deep & punk-like vocals.
Song: "Easy Easy" is an acoustic track that keeps your attention to the lyrics about going with the flow in life.
Turnstile - Stress
Artist: Turnstile is an American Hardcore Punk band from Maryland with upbeat tempos and heavy breakdowns that is perfect to skate or mosh to (if that's your thing)
Song: "Stress" is an aggressive hardcore track about internalized pressures and worries. It's great to listen to when you're feeling overwhelmed and tense.
Omar Apollo - Today
Artist: Omar Apollo is an American singer and songwriter with a retro-soul R&B sound.
Song: "Today" is about the struggle of facing the day when you feel at your most vulnerable. The song has a very chill R&B beat along with relatable lyrics about wanting to stay in bed.
Tyler the Creator - Boredom
Artist: Tyler Okonma known as Tyler the Creator is an American rapper and singer with progressive hip-hop and R&B sound.
Song: "Boredom" is a laid-back track with a neo-soul sound that features vocals from Rex County and Corinne Bailey Rae. The song is about the feeling of loneliness and isolation.
